Banners: I took the liberty

Postby PixieKnoll on Mon Apr 05, 2010 8:34 am

Since there were a few doing banner exchanges not too long ago, I had promised to put up my banner when I made one so I could also participate in the banner swap. I finally got around to doing that. :eyebrows:

But, I just wanted to let you all know that I took the liberties to add all sorts of banners! :cheer: I guess I couldn't help myself and once I got going on it...I just kept going. lol At any rate, my point is, since I added a ton of banners and website links and did not particularly ask for your permissions....please let me know if you do not want it listed on my website under the "artist affiliations" section. If you do not want to be there, no worries and no hard feelings...I will still love you just the same. It will be a quick fix and it will be gone. So please let me know.

On the other hand, if you do not see your banner listed there, and DO want to be there, just send me a copy of the banner and website address and I'll be sure to make that adjustment. I don't want anyone to be left out. :-) So, please...again, let me know.

Also, I just wanted to let you all know that I snagged the ones that were readily available, so I did not omit any one person intentionally. Also, they are just listed in a random order. So, please don't take offense if you do not see your name there or not at the top, etc. My intentions were to give you all a very special place in a corner of my world. :flower:

You can check it out here:

Hugs to all,
Lori

WOW you were a busy girl. LOL How long did it take you to put all that together. I have been really bad and procratinated so my site is still lack luster. I am on a new Medicine now that is making me feel less tired and I can think more clearly for a change. Maybe I will have to work on my website this week. Also , I looked around your site. It looks great. I really like the whole concept. Hugs

Thanks, Linda. Glad you like the site. Unfortunately for the banners, I can't figure out how to make a link to them. Could be the way the site is designed...those darn plug and play things. *sigh* But, it is still far cleaner than my last site and it's ease of making changes to it was hands down a winner for me. The only way I could get the web addy's added in there was to add them in a caption for each banner pic. So, if you click on the banner, it opens to a larger pic with a caption. It was the only thing I could think of. haha

Let me see, how long did it take me....I'm guessing a couple of hours to find the few I did find and pop back and forth to get the web addresses and such. It might not even taken me that long. All I know is it was rather late last night when I was doing it. lol I didn't pay attention to how long it took me, rather, I wanted to hurry so I could get to bed. haha

Anyway, glad you like it. Once you pass me yours, I'll stick it up there too if you like.

Hugs,
Lori

I will when I make a new one. I made the one I have now like 6 months ago. I want to put a new one together first. I had to clean my house today. BOOO HOOOO i hate cleaning, but I guess it has tobe done. I forgot how heavy my sofa was. I moved it to vacuum behind it. I left it in the middle of the room until my son came home. I couldn't get to do back without rumpling hte carpet. LOL I cleaned windows, dusted, washed down my cabinets, and cleaned out my refrigerator and cabinets plus did laundry and gave all of my dogs a bath. So that pretty much killed y entire day. Ow yeah, I also ran the vaccuum but just downstairs. Crapin thing is really heavy(dyson pet) it works great but I didn't feel like carrying it up the stairs, I will have to finish tomorrow. LOL Anyway, your site is very nice. I have to make myself work on mine. List more things on ebay and faebae, and ow yes finish my sculpts. LOL I keep questioning my sanity.

Re: Banners: I took the liberty

Lori, I finally made my new banner. I wanted to tell you that I have begun setting up a fan site, to help inform the collectors about just how many doll artists there are out there. What this art form is all about and make the connections to the artists sites all from one place. I am just getting started adding names and links. I will track the stats on the site and see how many links are getting used each month and if it getting lots of traffic, I will add more pages. I am just doing polymer sculptors for now. But If it does well, I want to add pages for reborn artist, mixed media doll artists, porcelain doll artists, etc. It is just a 2 page site right now. But I did get a great URL. I bought it in October but held off on the idea when I heard what was going on here with the changes at ODA. I was really busy in Ocotber and November anyway getting ready for a craft show. But now that I know that what I am going to do isn't going to interfere with any of ODAs plans I can go ahead with my directory.
My new web directory is at www.ooakartdolls.com I want to get as many artists as posible listed on the directory so when I start pushing the ads on search engines it will give all of a bust in traffic to our sites and hopefully generate some cross collecting among collectors who don't spend much time looking at other artists work. I will add your link tonight.

Fantastic, Linda. A soon as I get a moment later on, I'll try to get your banner up on mine too. In the middle of doing some spring cleaning...and I HATE doing it. But, someone around this place has to clear out the dust and muck every once in a while and I don't see any of the fellas jumping at the opportunity to do it. HAHAHAAHA Gee, I wonder why. *scratches head* Anyway, I'll get to it soon. <3

Hugs,
Lori

Hiya Lori,

What a great job you've done on your website! So professional and organized, I love it!
(Which reminds me, I really need to revamp mine)
If you like, you can add my banner, and I will add yours.

Oh, and thanks Lori, there were a few banners from ODA artists that I was inadvertently missing on my site...all I had to do was click on your page, save, and presto! You saved me a lot of time searching! :cheer:

And, I know this is your thread Lori (and I hope you don't mind.I don't really feel like searching for my old banner post :dazed: ) but if anyone else does not see their banner on my website, just PM me.

I need to get Linda's on there still....just have not had the opportunity to do much of anything this past week. And, also, thanks for a nice compliment on the new website. <3

Kim....thank! Glad you like it. :-)

Lori, I took the shortcut too. A couple of banners files were really big, I will add them when I have time to make them smaller.

I have to pay to add more pics to this site of mine so I am going to atart a running list of links only and add a large image with all of links in one picture. Does anyone know the HTML to add pics from other sites, I can store them on like a photobucket account or something. then I don't have to pay more. I used to know the html to do all kinds of stuff but I can't remember it has been so long since i had to use it.
