Woodland Troubadours

Postby PixieKnoll on Mon Feb 28, 2011 4:33 pm

It's been a while since I have had a completed piece, I think since Christmas. I have had a TON of things going on and trying to just keep up with work and every day stuff. It's just been rediculous!

At any rate, here is my entry for the IADR contest. I've been working on these guys since early January, and have finally completed them! Thank goodness! I'm kind of proud of these fellas and I hope you like them too.

Enjoy!

Hugs,
Lori

Hi Lori sweetie, I saw them on facebook, and let me tell you they are just amazing, you have many reasons to be very proud of them. They are perfect in everyway, what a perfect couple, look at those lil teeth, the smile of the standing guy is wonderful, both faces are super cute and so adorable, I adore every single detail... the cloths, everything.
I wish you all the best on that contest my dear lori. xoxoxox

That's a wonderful piece, Lori. I really love the guy who is laughing. His face is just perfect and makes you smile with him :-D And the other one... ? Awww... poor guy! :gaze:
Very nice work, really. All the details and the instruments. Is the moss a fake one or real? It looks at least very real. You know, I keep my fingers crossed!!

You guys are just too sweet! Thank you very much for all of your wonderful compliments!

Yes, I'm very proud of these little guys. Not sure I'll ever be able to part with them. hehe The entire piece is really quite big. The base alone measures about 12" x 19". The sitting figure sits at 8" tall and the standing one is about 16" tall. So, they are a good size.

Natalie, the moss on the ground floor is real moss. The rocks are some type of floral thing I found..."moss covered rocks" haha. The pebbles are actually crushed cork, and obviously the ferns and other plants/flowers are fake too. All in all, they were the perfect compliment to each other.

Funny thing too, I didn't realize it at the time because I rushed up to the store to pick up some final detail stuff at the last minute yesterday. I bought the ferns and plants, then, I picked up some cross-stitching thread to create the tassles for the standing character. Once it was finished, late last night I was looking at my finished piece, with that mixed feeling of just having given birth and a kid in a toy store (you all know that feeling of completing a project) and I realized the colors I had picked for the tassles, actually, mimic colors in the ferns, with the pink/salmon and yellow/green. Just a happy accident that I was quite amused with. haha

Anyway, thank you for the well wishes in the contest. It will be a very tough competition as all the pieces are wonderful. Even if I don't win, I am very happy and satisfied with the outcome of my 2 fellas. <3

Hugs,
Lori

My new favourite of yours, I love them Lori. Have you wrote a poem ( or song) to go with them?
Good luck with the show.

Hi there, Nia! Thank you so much! <3 I have not wrote a story to go with them as of yet. Sometime, ya just have to sit and look at them for a while before something develops. But, I'm sure something will come up soon as there is definitely a story with these guys. :-D I was just talking to a co-workers today about them and making a story for them, haha. I don't know if I can part with them cause I am enjoying looking at them a lot. :-)

You are too sweet, Sharon! Thank you for such a lovely compliment. <3 I am so glad that you like these guys. :-D I'm quite taken to them myself.

I seen your comment on my blog and I have not had the opportunity to make any replies. :( It's been pretty hectic here this past week for some reason. I'm beginning to think there is a full moon that hangs over my house every day of the month! haha

How cool are they. love the instruments and the playful interaction between them. The gourd guitar is fantastic. I have to have a look at your website and see the knoll is coming along. I remember you talking about your vision for the future of the site. Looks liek you moving right along. Great pair.
Morphing a ball of clay and wire into something beautiful is magical. It puts a bright light in my heart to see what my otherwise clumsy hands have created.

Oh, Linda, thank you for such a nice compliment. :-D The Knoll is definitely filling to the brim with characters. haha

Cheryl..thank you! In fact, I found out yesterday afternoon I had WON!!! I am still grinning from ear to ear. I really love these guys. When I come home from work in the afternoon, I tell them "hello fellas!" haha Thank you so much for a wonderful compliment.

I know a local lady who looked on my website today and asked if she could see these guys in person tomorrow. hehe I doubt she will buy them....and I doubt I can part with them (only for the right price lol). We'll have to see what her intentions are. She has been talking to me about making something for her later on down the road. So perhaps she wants to see my handy work up close to get a better feel for the quality of the work before she commits to a big project. That is fine by me. Every buyer is different. :-D

Anyway, thanks bunches ladies! I'm really glad that you like my 2 fellas. :-)
