Lady Of Shallot

Postby kie on Mon Jan 31, 2011 10:26 am

I've just started working on a piece inspired by my favourite all time paining, The Lady Of Shallot by John William Waterhouse, I've been toying with the idea of trying this for a while and have finally bitten the bullet!

Not done a huge amount so far, but hope to get more done soon

Excuse the mess in the background lol, my desk currently looks like a tip

I love her posture. And the face... it's fantastic how you got her expression. This is going to be a great piece!

Got some more done, still alot left to do though, still need jewellery and embellishment on the sleeves of the dress, and need to make the boat and all the other little bits and pieces, aswell as water and riverbed, will probably post later to pick peoples brains about using resin as I've never used it before.

Anyway, here are some more pics

Oh, and before I forget, the headband is real silver and was made by my husband :-D

I'll upload some better quality pictures when she is all finished.

She has a great deep expression. Great job. I also like the headband.

Looks like your husband would be great at making rings too. lol

Remarkably fabulous! I love it! It is much as depicted in the painting. You have done a wonderful job on this woman who has been immortalized forever. From her hair right down to her expression and costuming. You should be proud of this piece...I know I would be. :-) And, your hubby has done a super nice job on her head band. I agree with Iris, I would bet he makes some spectacular rings and other pieces of jewelry. A good metalsmith is wonderful to have around for us females. hehe And to think, I married a computer guy....what was I thinking? LOL <3

Hugs,
Lori
