I thought I would let you see what I have managed to do until now.

I have not had a lot of time to sculpt lately as my daughter was over from Holland, which was nice, I had not seen her for a few months, it is not always easy to get over there, work etc etc.

I decided to use one of the poses from the virtual gallery for her body, I think she is coming along all right, what do you think.

Still a long way to go, and a lot of sanding but at least the clay is not as dirty as it usually gets , so some progress :)

Hi Marisa,

Sorry to hear that you are having to redo, but maybe the next one will be better.

Yes, I do make my own eyes, but I also buy them from Loretta, they are not an eye but the lens which I place upon the sculpted eyeball. These particular ones are are hand made and I will add a darker pupil, before I glaze again after sculpting.

susan, your faces are very unique and different. i love them!

as for changing the original subject, just go back to your very first post of that topic and hit edit (its next to your quote and avatar pic). you can change it there. it wont create a new topic that will be seen when you are on the main page, but when we check back in the WIP's section then we will see it there : )
hope i could help...dont worry about a year ago...i had to ask this very same question. hehehehe!

Great start. Bozzi is a tough clay to work with so far. I am thinking about putting it in my food processor with some clay softener. It is killing my carpal tunnel and I have to cut super thin slices to get it into the pasta machine so I am really thinking grind it mix it and go from there. good luck with it, I am thinking Eneida must have arms like Popeye by now from using it. LOL It is so hard to condition.

The bozzi is a bit hard in the beginning, I put mine in a food processor with a pea size of vasiline and ran it through
the pasta machine until you have that beautiful sheen, You can tell when it is conditioned then it is fantastic.
Linda I asked Karen about the clay softener that was my first thought as well, and she said No do not use it, Use
a pea size of the vasiline . It worked beautifully! I really think it has a lot to with the temp. and where you live I think
it fluxuates a bit.

Thanks to all of you for the kind comments, I will post an update soon. I have to admit that I decided to experiment with this one because I found the Bozzi too tough I mixed it with two sorts of Fimo clay, Puppen and Classic. This has made it very easy to detail, albeit little bit on the soft side, but I am hoping the Bozzi will give some durability.

I am not too sure about the colour, but it is worth the effort just to see what happens.

I have been working hard trying to get a little more done on my latest WIP.

I have finished her costuming, hair and base and now have to get onto the wings.

Her name is Ivy, due to the costume.

I hope you all like her,

Hugs Susan xx

I just wanted to say thanks for all the support you have given me and to show you Ivy, now she is finished.

I made her wings and could I get them to stay put  so I have had to attach them permanently, another practice area to get right next time.

Anyway here she is, I am thinking of trying her on the bay, do you think she is good enough for that?

Susan, I think she is fantastic! You have REALLY done a fabulous job on her. Oh my! Look at how far you have come in such a short period of time. I DEFINITELY think you should give ebay a try. I really, really like her a lot! She is a doll you should be proud of! And, as an after thought, I have a few dolls whose wings are permanent. haha That happens when I can't find the right size drill bit that I am looking for at the time. LOL I hate when that happens. Darn it all. But, oh well, what do ya do. haha

She's great!

Hugs,
Lori

I thing you finished her very well. I know from experience on dolls that I attached the wings with glue, shipping them was VERY problematic. I had the come loose during shipping all three times and the customers had to reglue them. The one lady used the wrong kind of glue and it melted the wings and I had to make a new pair and send them to her free. My own fault I should have told to use fabric tac or tacky glue. The best thing it to make your wings with two prongs. And upper and a lower for each wing you can even make them at a lsight angle. This way when inserted they can not posibly move. It is a more complicated wing design but your wings will not pup off and they will not spin or twist in any way when you pose them. Just make an extra bent in the wire about a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch away from the first wire. And drill the extra holes.
If you do sell her on ebay, you need to make sure to stabilize her extremely well so she cant shift around even a little bit can rip off the wings.

Wow Susan she really turned out Awesome ! I love how you did the Ivy on her and the perfect name for her as well ..I am really amazed with your talent and Imagination . The wings look GREAT !!
I am not sure if this will help you because I am not that good with wings at all but you might find this helpful after I bend the wire to the shape I like . Then I will take the wire out side and hold it with pliers and then spray them with a spray glue on both side of the wire lightly and then stick them, to the fantasy film .The glue I bought from Walmart .I just wanted to tell you that because I really hate to do wings and using this it seems to be not so bad now lol

Thank you all so much!
Dear, Lori, Pat, Caza and Linda, I am overwhelmed by the amount of support you all keep giving to me, it is absolutely superb REALLY!!

I am disappointed in the wings, but I knew that was going to be a problem, they are going to be something I need to perfect. the hard thing at the moment is that I arrive at a point when I know I can't spend anymore time on a piece, I am done with it, even though it is not perfect and I still feel dissatisfied, dI can't do anymore with it. Do you know what I mean?
Like it has used all of my available energy, I then need to stop and move on.

I have put her on ebay, I am a little afraid of this but I need to send her out, testing the waters as it were.

I am pleased that you think she is worth it, I am becoming dependant on your comments and critique.

I will take all of your comments on board, especially the wings as they are my current bane LOL.

Bigs Hugs,

I love you all XXXX
